Food for Thought

I recently had a conversation with one of my cousins, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. I called her one evening after work just to see how she was feeling and what she was doing. She said she was sitting in bed reading her Bible. Then she said, “Dani, you should see how I’m sitting here with this Bible on a plate.”

On a plate?

Yes.

Why?

She went on to explain that it’s something she started doing to remind herself to read her Word daily. She said that we would never go all day without eating in the natural; no matter how tired or busy we were that day, we’d make time to eat at some point.  Well, since man doesn’t live by bread alone, we shouldn’t be skipping our spiritual meals either. She figured that if she kept walking by looking at it sitting on a plate, she’d make time to sit down and “eat” from it at some point that day.

THAT WAS A WHOLE WORD AND REVELATION!!!

If you’re anything like me, you snack on food all day – even when you’re not hungry. That means our flesh is overfed while our spirit man is often left starving for nourishment.

Perhaps you’re thinking to yourself that putting a Bible on a plate seems a bit extreme. Well, I think it’s extremely clever.  We have to do what we have to do to stay spiritually strong, especially in these last days.

Whether you decide to put your Bible on an actual plate or just keep that image in your mind, make sure that you make consistent time to dig in and savor the Word of God.

Blessings,

Danielle
