A Little Inspiration

I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a hard year. From the pandemic, to racial injustice, to shocking celebrity deaths, to personal losses, it’s been one blow after the next. This year isn’t allowing us to fully catch our breath before more devastating news arrives, leaving us breathless once again.

Although this year has brought a lot of loss, one thing I “refuse to lose” (shout-out to Sarah Jakes) is my faith. In the midst of the chaos, I find peace, comfort, and safety in God.

If circumstances have you heavy-hearted right now, I would like to encourage you with Psalm 61:1-4:

Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah. (KJV)

When things seem out of control around me, I find solace in knowing God is my rock that I can lean on. The world is ever-changing, but He is “the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Heb. 13:8, NKJV). His Word is solid and we can depend on it.

I want to end this post with the last stanza of my poem titled “Blink” from my book Crack a Window: Homes and Humans Need Ventilation:

But even in times of uncertainty

I’m reminded of God’s sovereignty

Though, I may not always understand

I am committed to trusting Him fully

Love and Peace,
