Embrace the Detour

I get inspired at random times by random things.  Recently, I received inspiration from a coffee mug that had “Embrace the Detour” written on it.

Like many others, I’m not where I thought I would be at this age, but I have realized that I’m right where I’m supposed to be.  The events of life may have caught me by surprise, but they certainly didn’t catch God off guard.

Please believe, you’re not a failure because your life didn’t go exactly as planned.

We often get annoyed at detours because it interferes with our planned route. Although they are inconvenient, they are inevitable.  It’s important to embrace the detours. If we don’t, we will end up stuck from our unwillingness to move forward in the newly appointed direction.

Keep in mind, detours often force us to take a route that we wouldn’t have taken otherwise, which allows us to see things that we wouldn’t have seen.  Have you ever taken a detour and found yourself enjoying the new route?  Perhaps you discovered a community of nice, big homes that were hidden from the main road? Perhaps the new route was more scenic and ended up being relaxing.  Perhaps it allowed you to stumble upon a new restaurant or diner.  I’ve actually had the experience of liking the new route better than the original one and being grateful for the detour!

I know it might be uncomfortable and scary, but don’t get stuck in the detours of life.  Embrace them and keep moving forward.  The new route could be leading you straight into your purpose and destiny!

With love,

Danielle
